.how it all started

Years ago, I was invited to run a creative writing workshop with a group of women in South East London. I had very little workshop-leading experience back then and was absolutely jittering inside. I was also being assessed by my tutor for a course I was taking at the time (Nooooooooooo).

No amount of deodorant was enough, I tell ya! Can't remember half of what I did. Really. But it's where I wanted to be.

I used Maya Angelou's poem, Phenomenal Woman, along the spine of the session. I wanted the women to feel good. I wanted it to be a celebration of them.

Surprisingly, they enjoyed it - they felt connected, inner-massaged.

After the workshop, I decided I wanted to do more like it. The fire had been lit. The Phenomenal-Woman program was born. :-)
